Problem zooming track in Camtasia 2018

In this screen capture, the audio is lined up fine in #1.
#2, I zoom in once, and the audio track looks way out of sync but it sounds fine.
In #3 I zoomed in once more and I don't know what the heck I'm looking at any more, but the playback still sounds ok.

I've opened a support ticket, but I'm posting to see if anyone else has this problem or maybe a solution.

Kind of confused...are these two identical tracks?

I record from my USB microphone and from a camcorder.
The top track is the audio and video from the camcorder. The bottom track is the screen capture and microphone.

@Oz There is a known issue in version 2018.0.0 where switching from 30 fps to 60 fps while the waveform is still loading can get you into a weird state with the waveform.  If you find yourself in this situation, restarting Camtasia will clear the waveform cache and should draw correctly when you open the project the next time.

If this doesn't describe your situation, then it will take some more digging to find the cause, and working with our TechSupport staff is probably the best way for us to help.

Thanks for this. I'll give this a shot when I get home.

And I think you may have described what happened. I know I switched from 30 fps to 60 but I don't remember if I did that while the waveform was still loading.

Also, we *just* went live with Camtasia 2018, and I noticed your post was from 19 hours ago.  Please make sure you have build 3358, which was the 2018.0.0 RTM version.  If you have a pre-release or beta version, please uninstall it and then install the RTM version.

I just updated to the current Camtasia 2018 and now it keeps crashing. I recorded a video, and I can't even drag a clip without Camtasia 2018 freezing up.

I've got the updated build. I'm working on a new project and am having this same problem with the waveforms going way out of place.

I just closed and reopened Camtasia 2018 and it's completely frozen while I wait for it to draw the waveforms. One issue is that the camera clips that I loaded are 10GB. But I never had to wait for Camtasia 9 like this.

Camtasia 2018 has crashed on me a bunch of times. I've sat and waited on it for extended amounts of time.  I literally have to just wait and completely leave it alone while the *Not Responding* notification is in the upper-left corner. If I try to drag a clip or do anything at all, Camtasia 2018 just goes white.

This isn't good.

I sat here at least 20 minutes watching the waveforms slowly take shape before I could get started editing. Camtasia 9 NEVER put me through this.

contact free tech support; what you are experiencing is not normal CS 2018 behavior; possibly a system or media issue?  I do all my Camtasia work on a modest i5 laptop with 8 GB RAM, 245 GB SSD; CS 2018 has so far been rock solid

@Oz, definitely contact tech support about this issue.  That is not expected behavior.

If it's video camera footage the workaround may be to disable GPU and use hardware only mode.

There's been a problem with some video footage in version 2018.  Trec recordings are not effected.

I'd like to know if this helps Oz

The problem wasn't that the clips looked washed out. It gives that washed out look if I try to move a clip before the waveforms are drawn.

Thanks for the help. I'm torn. I wanna try the workarounds. But I also need to get to work. Going back to CS9 might be more efficient, and hopefully this stuff with CS2018 will get worked out.

Last week I had problems and contacted tech support. We did a screenshare that lead to me uploading a 1GB dump file for them to look at.

I'm torn.

I had both problems, the loading problem. And a washed out canvas area. It took forever to get my Nikon footage on the timeline. If I tried to do anything I go the white screen with Camtasia unresponsive. It took about 55 seconds to load a 60fps Nikon 2.6GB file.
It took 1:45 to load a Nvidia 60fps 60fps 6.8GB file.Same story with the waveforms. Sometimes, the Nvidia footage wouldn't load for several minuets and I would just close the program.
I received version 2018.0.1 Build 3408 and it solved the loading problem. It didn't solve the washed out canvas problem and the build was not ready for release.

Perhaps if you submitted a ticket they would give you access to that version.I thought about uploading it and giving you a link. But I don't think I have a legal right to do that. If I thought It was Okay I would do it.

Thanks so much! Yeah. You're describing the exact problems I'm having.  I'll be in touch with tech support.
