Problem of Snagit 12 on Surface Pro 3

I have installed the trial version of Snagit 12 in my surface pro 3. And I am a Math Teacher. Then I open the Onenote application in my Window 8.1, then only I realize I cannot open both apps together. Snagit 12 can only be opened on Desktop mode. But when I change to Metro mode it will disappear automatically. I have no idea why?!

After that, I was trying to solve this issue by using split screen function on my sp3, Mean I opened snagit on desktop mode, then I drag the onenote out from my left hand side. Then I press record from Snagit, it will automatically ask me to drag a rectangle box, so I drag it on the onenote screen, then I tried to record for 15 seconds, after that the snagit had disappear and I got no way to stop the screen casting and it left a transparent rectangle box on my desktop mode there and it won't disappear. After that, the Snagit even not allowed me to sign out (exit the app). It forced me to restart my sp3 to solve this issues.

I hope someone here can help me, my request is very simple, I just want to open any writing app on my sp3 and screencast it.
But there is no way I can do it after I have tried so many other method. >.

Hello fellow math teacher!  Are you trying to capture video or a screenshot?  I've had some problems with Snagit video capture on my high-res screen (same issues that it sounds like you are having).  I've used Camtasia for video capture and it works perfectly well with OneNote.

Are you planning on making video lessons on OneNote by going through the problem on screen?

I use the annotation tools in PowerPoint - which should work brilliantly with your Surface Pro 3 - instead of OneNote (or other writing screens).

Note that I can annotate on the slides without leaving the program and independent of the animations and transitions. Very easy and efficient - especially if you are looking to flip your classroom.

Not sure this answers your question, but hopefully it helps your situation.

Hi Mdevor,
yes, I am trying to capture the video. Yes, I would like to use either onenote or other window app to flip my classroom. If you have no idea what i am doing, you can check out my youtube channel:

www.youtube.com/msiafreeeducation

my main problem here is, snagit is not allowed me to record my screen on win8 metro UI, mean I only can record my video on win8 desktop mode.
I am searching for alternative now, because my surface pro 3 only have 4GB rams, some forum said that camtasia and snagit both require very high spec in order to work very well.

And I also do some testing on myself (because my each teaching video will be 30 minutes and above, usually), I compare the quality of video between snagit and screencast-o-matic when I uploaded to youtube, the screencast-o-matic obviously provide better quality and less laggy if compare to snagit. Some forum stated that camtasia will provide better video quality compare to snagit, but I don't think my surface pro 3 can support camtasia.

Nevertheless, still thank you so much for replying me. Wish you have a wonderful day =)
