Problems/inconsistencies selecting ranges

There is an inconsistency in selecting a range that is annoying.

What I want to do: Select from a cut at point A to a cut at point B, by keyboard.

Ctrl-, and ctrl-. will move between those points.
Shift-, and shift. will move one frame at a time, and select the space as it moves.
So, of course, combining this -- ctrl-shift-, and . should select and move at once, right? Nope -- that moves half a second at a time.

So, lets try a work-around. Shift-. to mark a range, and then drag the range out. Right? Nope -- suddenly Camtasia is selecting from the end of the track to the timeline marker. (I think that's a bug).

Best so far is to shift-drag the timeline until it hits a "snap" point, and hope that the timeline isn't so crowded that getting the right snap point is hard.
