I know camtasia uses only 4mg ram although those of us with high power computers would like an option to dedicate more ram to camtasia why not put properties option where users can do some tweaking

Pat,

Thanks for the suggestion. The memory limits come from the fact that we're currently a 32-bit application. The product must be upgraded to 64-bit (and you must have a 64-bit OS and hardware, but this is common nowadays) in order to use more memory. This is no small task, but we've made significant progress. We're not ready to announce anything yet, but I can say that we are working on it. Our goal is to design our app such that the performance scales with the capabilities of the hardware.

If I may ask, what problem are you trying to solve by using more memory? Are you trying to render faster? Record faster? Handle larger video? All of these would be nice, of course. But I'm wondering what factors led you to post this request. Thanks for any additional detail you can provide.

When I have large hi def videos the pict is often very choppy I'm happy with the speed of the render after copying a 4 hr video off the screen renders and saves MUCH faster than older version. I would like to see a timed start and stop and auto save if I were to record when I'm not around as I could then use auto shutdown on my computer. Your stuff is great!!!

I've been having the same problem.  My OS is 64 bit and I have 64 GB of ram but Camtasia usually ends up reporting "out of memory" on long or heavily edited videos.  And, at that point if you try to continue editing, Camtasia starts losing edits, some clips become blacked out and unviewable, and it crashes ever so often.
