Purchased Camtasia 9; Installed on one PC but refuses to activate on second PC

My employer purchased Camtasia 9 yesterday, via web, sent me the key information, and I installed it and activated it successfully on my work PC, and installed it on my home PC just now, but the software refuses to activate on the second PC. Upon pasting my software key I get:

"Our activation server is unable to register your copy of Camtasia. You may still use Camtasia throughout your trial period. Please contact our Customer Service team...".

I can certainly open a service ticket, but because it was purchased by our accounts guy, I will have to go through him -- and his email -- to interact with Support, and I was hoping to have this activated yet in the wee hours.

Does anyone have any ideas why the activation server would not like my home PC? I have no other version of Camtasia installed. The internet works fine. It simply looks as though I am being denied.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

If TechSmith's activation server is blocking the activation you will need to contact them.

Since you have the activation code, that may be all you need to correct this yourself.

I figured a service ticket will resolve it but I was just hoping to get going last night, Joe. I'll pursue that route this morning and post the reason for the failure, should they provide me with one, to this thread when I get it.

Just a thought.  Did your employer also install and activate C9?  Unfortunately, I don't find a way to determine if the key has already been installed on multiple computers using the TechSmith account.

I wondered that too, EN, but our Accounting guy is not one who would have done that. I'm at work now and if he is here today I'll just submit a ticket through them. That's a good thought though, and I will double-check.

I verified he did not install a copy himself. I will call Support.

Thanks, folks.

Customer Solutions Specialist Nicole helped me out. They have a related KB available here: https://www.techsmith.com/activate-camtasia-successfully.html

My issue was that my hosts file had garbage IP addresses for TechSmith's site, I presume from a previous version of Camtasia [conjecture on my part]. Remarking-out those lines fixed the issue and my software activated beautifully.

It was a great support experience. Nicole is top-notch.
