When I make a snapshot in Snagit to use as a printscreen then the quality is very poor. I save it as PNG or JPG but there is no difference. Am I doing something wrong?

If your printing the images.
Capturing them at 300dpi "Print Resolution" should improve things.

You  could create a custom capture preset.

Regarding PNGs, SnagIt's default is 72 dpi.

On JPEGs, you shouldn't use them for screen captures. The JPEG algorithm is used -- as it's named -- for photographs. The algorithm can scatter pixels, or artifacts, on the edges of things to smooth them out, as that what it things really should be there.
