Question about starting part of dashed lines (issues with aligning)

Hello.

My use case is that I want to draw rectangles with dashed lines.
As shapes themselves do not give me an option to create a dashed square, rectangle, polygon, I have to draw it using Line with dashed style.
All is fine and dandy but at the vertices of the square I cannot align the lines to make them eye pleasing.
It seems that the beginning part of the dashed line is never a full square but a thin rectangle.

It may happen two thin rectangles of two lines will cross. Even if I try to lengthen/shorten a line hoping to achieve  eye pleasing set of dash rectangles at the vertices, I usually fail. And I'm not going to draw black rectangles over there, the tool should allow me to draw in an eye pleasing way the first time right without having to manipulate it afterward. The current result does not look too professionally.

Is there a trick to do it better, or could it be a feature request to improve it? That tiny rectangle at the begging of each dashed line is troublesome to me.

Is it a bug or a feature? I'm not sure why it is there, I does not help me.

Generally, even without the tiny rectangle issue, it is difficult to keep even spacing between the dashes when two lines meet. Having it all aligned automatically, as part of dashed shape style would be best.

Is there a trick to do it better? Yeah, use another program.
One that has the feature.
This functionality has been requested going back many years.

TechSmith doesn't seem to think its worthy of implementing.

This request is 8 years old, dating back to a time TechSmith joined the GetSatisfaction forum/platform.
I'd bet the farm there are older requests in the previous TechSmith forum.

Like Joe said, use a different program. For precision graphics, I use Excel & VBA. For example:

BTW, I use this 8" x 8" grid to calibrate my printers.
