The Problem:

With version 9 of Camtasia, Export to .MP3 was removed.

Potential Solution:

Re-instate the export to MP3.

Hi TechSmith Team,
There are workarounds, be it Audacity or VLC Player. This isn't a big deal for one-off MP3 production.
This issue is producing dozens or hundreds of long duration MP3 files. Workarounds double the production time. It's a time tax. One Camtasia customers didn't have to pay before.

It'd be great to have the feature back.

Hi TS-Team,

MP3 would a great but missing feature to me and my work. I dont understand that is more important to discus whether a dark or a light UI is better (offer them both, Adobe offers 4 possibilitys).
MP3 is still a very popular file format for audio and very usefull, not just for me.
Itsn't it much easier and better to save audio files in one program (Camtasia) than to convert them in a 2nd one like Audacity?
Proposal, add a posibility to use "lame" with Camtasia, like in Audacity.
Think about your customers.

I have a tool I use for converting video and audio Called AllAVsoft https://www.allavsoft.com/video-downloader-converter.html .
May not be the best solution, but it's been very useful for me.

It's looking like we'll be able to add mp3 export on Windows 8 and 10 machines with the next major release of Camtasia. It's being actively developed and tested at the moment.

Thanks for the update on that Brooks. I have had quite a few people asking about this option and if it was going to be something added or not. You state in the next major release of Camtasia so can you let us know if this will or will not then be added for the current version of Camtasia 2018 please ? Thanks again and we appreciate your input. Have a great day/night.

a.martin,

I would hope they would also reinstate this feature for the Mac Users too. I use Windows as I do not have a Mac. But in my opinion it should work for both Versions (PC and Mac). This way if people were collaborating with different versions it would make it easier. This is just my opinion and hopefully we will hear back from Brooks on if this is going to be offered in the Mac Version too. Thanks for you input and post. Have a great day/night.

We added back audio export of MP3 on Windows. We have not added this to the Mac. I'm marking as implemented. If we see demand for it on Mac, we'll consider it.

The mp3 export option is a bit hidden on Windows. Here's a GIF showing where to get at it. There are no export options--you get a 320kbps mp3 when you export.
