Camtasia 8 had a way to silence an audio selection (for example, to remove an umm) that required only a click
Reinstitute the ‘silence audio selection’ button.
In the new version, there is a slider that regulates the volume gain. So if you want to mute selection on a track, you need to cut that segment from both sides, then select it, and reduce volume gain to 0. Previously, you need just to make selection, and click Silence and you have 4 audio spots and muted selection
Add keyboard-shortcut and right-click menu options for silencing selected section of audio.
I find myself having to bring up the audio panel fairly frequently to do this and I can't see that there's any other way of silencing the audio than to go to the Audio panel and click the Silence button.
When using Camtasia to edit videos, I use the Silence tool a lot under Audio tools. Please add this tool to the list of available hotkeys (i.e. shortcuts) - perhaps the L key, since the S key is already taken by the "Split" command. This would save us a lot of time!
Why did you remove the mute button? Major turn-off.
I use the "replace with silence" button a lot. I may be crazy, but I seem to remember there being a shortcut for it in the timeline toolbar back in the day. Is there any way to get that button to show up in the timeline toolbar?
I'm a long time Camtasis user and moving to the new format has really slowed down my work flow because of not having a once click mute function. Please bring it back. Even if one pulls the sound all the way down, it still sounds if no edit points are put in. I'm a music teacher for special needs students and used to make songs with blanks for my students to "sing" along on their switches or communication devices, they are nonverbal. The new way will more than triple the time it takes me to do that with all the extra editing. Boo!
Audio is a key component to professional video. We want to provide an experience for both novice and experienced users that increases the quality of their audio. There are a few ideas that are audio related in this round-up. We are evaluating a collection of audio related features for a future release. While we doing that evaluation, we’d like to hold off on any audio features until we design a broader approach to audio improvements in the product.

I own a s/w dev company. I understand priorities, long term plans and so on. I expect you have some other larger long term plan for audio features. But you made the effort to collect votes from your users about what they want to see in the app. This is #3! I don't see how that can be ignored aka "Not Planned".
