You can change the video bitrate settings in Camtasia if you need higher quality video at the expense of larger file size.  In the export dialog, choose the 'Options...'  button and then choose the Data Rate: Custom option.  You can then change the Data Rate slider which will give you less compression artifacts but result in a larger output file.  You may want to select a small portion of your video for exporting and make several exports with different settings until you get one you find acceptable.  Or, if file size is not a concern at all, move the slider all the way to the right for the least possible artifacts.  At some point though, there won't be a perceivable change in quality.  Camtasia  remembers your settings, so when you find one that is acceptable, you won't need to go into the options dialog again unless you wish to tweak it further.

Btw I put the Data Rate at 320. It makes a 5 seconds video 15.2 Mb and I think it's really Ok.

HI I'm a novice user and experiencing the same issue with quality and bitrate. I do not see an 'export' option other than for Mac or as zip in the 'File' menu. I'm using latest version on PC. Can you please provide explicit directions on how to export my file and adjust the bitrate to increase its quality?

Also, it may be nice to share here what setting you found acceptable results with.

Hello  @Leif
I've updated my export settings to the below. Screen capture inside of Camstasia looks great, but exported video is still very blurry and poor. What am I ding wrong?

I'm not as familiar with the Windows settings.  I'll ask around and see if I can get someone to help you out.  The first thing I'd try is moving the slider more towards higher quality.  That should reduce encoding artifacts at the expense of making the exported file bigger.  Also, if the Video size: settings are not the same as your project settings of the project you are exporting, that could add some artifacts from scaling the project up or down.  You could also check in the Camtasia-Windows flow and maybe get some more advice.  This post is in the mac flow.

Andrew, on Windows, it's best to use the 'Quality' encoding mode instead of 'Bitrate' (top right on the Video Settings tab). Usually, setting that to somewhere between 60 and 70% will produce output with good quality and a reasonable file size. On that same tab, setting the H.264 profile to Main or High may help as well.
