Recapture the same area again

Clarify (www.clarify-it.com) have a nice feature that allows you to screenshot the same area again -this is especially useful when producing documentation as it keeps the captures consistent. They simply have a toggle key (R) when in screenshot mode which reshows the previous capture area.

Thanks Fred however it's not spam, I'm just referring you to an app which does it well, I have no affiliation with them, I'd just like Snagit to offer the same feature (and was requested to raise this post tweet - see http://twitter.com/Snagit/status/2329...)

Good news Tim,

You can do this in Snagit. The fastest way is to use the hotkey combo which is Ctrl + Shift + R. You can verify or change this hotkey combo in Snagit (not the Editor) under Tools > Program preferences > Hotkeys (tab).

It will capture the last area even if the Snagit application does not have focus. Let us know if this doesn't meet your needs, and thanks for posting!

Hi Mike, Shift+Ctrl+R does it on my MB Pro. Is there also a chance for a hotkey that enables an "automatic window with the same capture size" (see graphic attached) - so if I press a hotkey - the area 441x161px is opened again - I can move it - and then take a screenshot with the same measurements? Thx in advance. CA

I note you said MB Pro. I'm assuming this means MacBook Pro?

Not sure if this option is available on Mac, but on PC you can define a preset with a fixed region. When you choose to capture, you are able to move the region around before finalizing the capture.

...thanks, I know that this works within the Windows version and I'm waiting approx. 10 years to have this available within SnagIt for Mac - will this happen during my lifetime? ;-)

I do not see them either, and it's 3 years later. Control+Shift+r doesn't do anything on a Mac. When I have to recapture the exact same spot, I use Snapz Pro.

Yes I would really like to be able to capture exact same spot as well on a Mac. Thanks

I just posted this question again. TechSmith, if you offer this most BASIC, NECESSARY function of a screen capture program, WHY have you buried it somewhere and not made any mention of it in your documentation?  It boggles my mind. I am a paid user of SnagIt 12. Ctrl-Shift-R does not initiate the last capture again. If I don't get an answer to this in the next week, I will seek out a new screen capture program and end my decade-long association with TechSmith. Yes, this makes me that annoyed.  BASIC function, should be on the profiles screen.
