Record Camera Only and View Camera While Recording

I'm just starting with Camtasia, and, apparently, the first two things I want to do I can't do. I want to record webcam video separately from screen captures, and I want to be able to see what is being recorded with the camera while I'm recording. How is it possible that the the first two things I'm after aren't possible? I see on the forums that others want to do the same things. *sad face*

Hi there

I'm curious as to how this would work (assuming it worked exactly as you had hoped).

In a thought experiment, I can only see getting distracted by recording only webcam and seeing the actual webcam as you are trying to record. I know that with teleprompters, you are staring at the actual camera and seeing the text scroll by, so it doesn't seem to the end viewer that you are distracted, because even though your eyes are focused on the text, they just look like you are talking to the camera. But if you were staring at a video of yourself as you are being recorded, you would be looking down at the screen and not at the webcam.

I'm thinking it may be helpful for the Camtasia development team if you were able to articulate exactly how this would work to solve your issue if it existed in Camtasia.

Cheers... Rick :)

This won't help with regards to Camtasia.

However.............
The Logitech C920 is one of the most popular & reasonably priced webcams on the market for 1920 x 1080 capture.
You can download the free software that comes with it. I believe it covers your needs.
Its a great recorder. It's not available for other Logitech webcams.

You can adjust color settings. White Balance is my favorite. A host of other custom setting are available.

The preview window is 640 x 360. Roughly 6" by 4" on my 1920 x 1080 23" monitor.

You may want to consider getting one?
