Hello,

Is it possible to record my Webcam, and my screen at the same time, and get two output videos? I'm asking to do this for a tutorial style video.

Thank you for the help!

Yep...that's exactly what you can use Camtasia for.

Thank you for getting back to me! I just bought Camtasia, can you point me to a tutorial video or some reading on how to set it up? To this point, I've just been using Camtasia Recorder to record screen captures.

I'd also really like to have it split into two separate outputs, so I have the WebCam footage as a video output file, and the screen recording as a video file. Is that possible?

I can't find a video at this time but it's pretty easy to do. Just make sure your screen size is set and your webcam is turned on.

After you finish recording, it will be put into 2 separate video tracks in Camtasia.

That does help, thank you! I thought it would be a specific setup, but it sounds like you just turn on your WebCam and Screen Area, and it's smart enough to record both. Very intuitive!

Yep, after selecting the options, just click record (rec) and away you go.

Have fun!

Hi KurryKid, thank you for the training. I feel like i've followed the steps to the letter but i'm missing something. I have activated my webcam and can see it on the Camtasia toolbar but when I import my file, I only get one video file (with no webcam view) and one audio file. Any idea what i'm doing wrong?

Similar but yet different issue, is it possible to capture 2 different webcams simultaneously? (so video is sync in both captures)

Yes. But perhaps not quite in the way you may think...

FYI I have edited 3 different videos all of same thing, but from different angles.
Think of a Coach's Eye video, but with 3 views seen in the produced video all at the same time.

Consider that a best method may be to just use the webcam or camera device to capture and record native video. As you start cameras rolling, use a slate clapper device (hand clap, dog clicker, or tap on a glass) to record a visible audio spike. This is the visual marker you will use to slide/align your recorded videos on the Camtasia time-line. Add screencapture video also if you want. This should do the trick for you.

SnagIt can record the screen and the webcam. However, Not simultaneously.

You have to switch between the screen and the webcam.Theres no picture in picture capabilities.

As Joe has stated in SnagIt you have to switch from the webcam back and forth to the screen or vice versa. That is a great feature in my opinion for SnagIt. I have been asking for years to have that same option integrated into Camtasia but it is yet to make it to the table.

If it will work in SnagIt then it should also be possible in Camtasia. There have been many requests for this option over the years so hope TechSmith gives this some serious consideration. Just my opinion and input.
