What version of Windows do you have? I know Windows 10 has a voice recorder, not very flexible but it will record anything on the mic. Also if you go to the Windows Store, there appear to be a 12 or more freebies. Should voice "altering" software be of interest?, NCH makes a pretty good suite of audio s/w. I think they allow you to use their s/w for free, but on exit ask you to buy at their site.
(The grandkids love the voice altering s/w - Voxal).

Audacity is a free, open-source audio recording/editing platform that works for my team. It has an easy interface along with the ability to trim/edit the audio.  Here is where to go for the download:

You'll also need to install a lame driver for exporting mp3 files.

Thanks for the great suggestions. I did enable the Microsoft Voice Recorder and that works fine but pretty basic.

As I was browsing around and searching for audio recording software I came across a company called AVS4You and that's when the light bulb came on above my head. I actually bought that product several years ago and didn't use it hardly at all as I moved on to something else about that time. Anyway, I already have the full boat on this: I have the AVS Video recorder, AVS Video Converter, AVS Audio Editor (which records and edits) and the  AVS Audio Converter. So I'm all setup and started practicing with a few trial audio recordings. Works Great!

Thanks for all your help. BTW, I am new to this forum - Is their a way to mark my postings a "Solved" once I have my answer, to let users not waste time answering? Thanks so much for your help!!!!!
