Recording query for Camtasia Mac

Hi there,
I have a query related to selecting the right resolution for screen recording on MAC.

We are using paid version of Camtasia MAC (3) for recording tutorials and taking screenshot on MAC laptop/desktops. We usually use 1080p resolution for our recordings, but most of the time, we find the text in these recordings very small and blurry.

Can you please let us know the right procedure and the ideal settings (in both Camtasia MAC 3 and system display resolution) for getting a high quality recording?

If there's any step-by-step process for recordings, can you please share it with me? Or any tutorials which are only relevant for the Camtasia MAC 3 version.

Let me know if you need anything from my side.

Hi amanna,

The resolution of the recording depends on the resolution of your screen. You can set your monitor's resolution by:
1. Going to System Preferences->Displays.
2. Click Scaled
3. The best resolution you can get for your monitor would be the option that says "Larger Text".

This may not be ideal in some cases, however, because applications tend not to fit on the screen at that resolution. If your recordings are still not high enough resolution, I would suggest buying a 4k monitor and doing the same steps above.

For Camtasia, I would recommend recording your entire screen then cropping the video when editing. You can record at larger than 1080p, then adjust the scale of your recording later.

Let me know if that helps!

Thanks Fila!
Setting the display resolution for better readability makes sense.

However, on recording in higher resolutions and then scaling it into lower resolution, the text on the video becomes blurry. So, any chance you have a presentation/tutorial which can educate me and my clients on the best practices for recording using Camtasia 3?

Also if possible, can anyone from your team get on a webex call with me to take me through the best practices for Camtasia 3?
