I just downloaded the Snagit upgrade (2.1.4) on Mac and I'm now getting an error when I record a screen. I can record OK but when I stop the recording it isn't responding. Snagit icon in top bar is red and I'm having to force quit the application. It then responds with 'unknown error' please try again. I've rebooted my computer and still same response. Can you advise?

Yep. I have this issue too. It just hangs. Occasionally it unhangs and spits out a little file that is empty or appears to be (doesn't open). I so wanted Snagit to be my video screen capture solution... it has so many features that make it great for showing work to clients without having to physically meet them!

I have the same problem just upgraded from Snagit 1.x to 2.1.4. Screen capture works OK but video capture hangs (with red icon) when I stop the recording. The activity monitor shows "Snagit (Not Responding)" and I have to force quit.

How long before the red icon goes away? I also have a red icon from this mornings recording.

Ditto, I also have to force quit the app. Hoping someone has an answer to this issue. I've missed one deadline already due to this error, beginning to wish I had never accepted the upgrade prompt!

Michael, I contacted tech support 2 days ago but have not heard back.

Although I'm a trial user, I am a potential customer also. Is there a way to access a previous version of the software that does work?

I regressed back to 2.1.2 of my registered version and I have no problems now. Glad I I'd not delete my installation download. But I was never offered a link from CS.

I have exactly the same issue, and have had issues in the past with Mac SnagIt releases and having to revert to previous versions.

I reverted to 2.1.3 and am able to record videos now.

My Snagit (mac version) won't complete capture....everything looks fine while recording but when I press stop (it would previously start saving file) now I get the spinning beach ball of death...the older version worked fine. everything stopped working when I updated. I purposely haven't updated in months because I was afraid this would happen. is there Any way to fix problem or at least revert back to version from a few months ago since older version worked fine?

I just downloaded SnagIt ver 2.1.4 for the Mac. When I end a video capture, the program hangs. Sometimes the entire mac will be locked-up. Either way, to get back into Snagit, I have to reboot. Any suggestions/ideas?

Hello, reverting to 2.1.3 fixed it for me. An earlier reply provided a link to download 2.1.3:

Michael Mays, an employee of TechSmith, commented on a reply in Recording error in Snagit 2.1.4, a problem about TechSmith.

"Revert to Previous Version" is under the Snagit Menu.

The fix is in!

We've released an update Snagit 2 to correct the video recording problems reported by our users.
