Hopefully after they fix all the bugs and re-enable the popular features they removed in 2018.

Oh, ok, thanks! So I shouldn't be upgrading my version 8.2 for 2018 yet? I am trying to decide if I should pay $100 to upgrade now or wait until 2019.

I suggest that you review some of the discussions about 2018 to see if the additions will benefit you and whether the known bugs and features that were removed or modified will create any problems in the work that you do. That's the best way to determine whether you should upgrade or not.

In the meantime, you could upgrade to version 8.6 using your current license. You can find it at: https://www.techsmith.com/download/oldversions

I also suggest you wait and see if they eventually make the PC and Mac versions compatible - at least if you work on a PC.  Despite their claim the versions are practically the same, the PC version doesnt have the Mask functionality that the Mac version has had for several years, and apparently it is still not slated for the 2019 update!!!!!

Camtasia 2018 was released June 19 2018.

That's almost 6 months away and Camtasia 2018 still has bugs.

Camtasia 9 was released 11 October 2016. Nearly 2 years earlier.

My personal opinion is that a version 2019 may not be coming.

They released 2018 to quickly "With Bugs".
Primarily because they wanted to launch a Library  content subscription service.

I could be dead wrong? But it should take at least 6 months to know one way or the other what's going on.

Regards,Joe

It's interesting that you state they launched 2018 for the primary reason of launching a library content subscription service.

I'm curious if you have an email announcement or other documentation you could point us to that describes this? If so, I'd love to see it.

Camtasia 2019 will release on 2nd quarter of this year. may be June 19, like Camtasia Studio 8 and Camtasia 2018 released date.

Well, I hope they actually fix all of the blunders and bugs in 2018 by that date; otherwise a new release will be pointless, as nobody is going to upgrade with the 2018 fiasco still fresh in their minds.

I stand by what I said previously that releasing software based on arbitrary, repetitive calendar dates is a recipe for problems and unhappy users. Hopefully, TechSmith has learned that lesson and won't release 2019 until it's complete and thoroughly tested. A good product released late will sell better than a poor product that meets a release date target. TechSmith already has some reputation damage to repair and another "2018" could do irreparable harm and drive users away.

Hey folks,

Just a friendly reminder that any dates you see here are just speculation by the community. TechSmith has not publicly announced release dates for the next major release of Camtasia. No customers have inside information on a date or a timeframe for the release. TechSmith Marketing will roll out any announcements on this front.

Also, please, please, please contact our support team and make them aware of outstanding bugs in Camtasia 2018 that have not been fixed in the seven maintenance releases we've done this year. We put significant effort into smashing bugs and take your reports seriously.

Stay warm friends. It's -3 Degrees F / -25 Degrees (windchill) here in Michigan. Our offices are closed and employees have the day off, but a number of folks on our engineering team are using the opportunity to read through the forums and discuss the issues we see raised here.

We aren't going to make everyone happy all of the time and will make mistakes from time to time, but the entire team really cares about creating a great product for our customers.

Thanks for your continued support.

Based on "IF" a version of 2019, and already 3 months into 2019, I'm thinking your 1 year "maintenance" aught to be including the upgrade to 2020 at this point, similar to where Snagit is at. Not much incentive to buy a 'maintenance' upgrade from 2018 to 2019 when it's 3 months into 19'.

I really hope we finally get some of these basic features Camtasia misses for years.

- Temporarily disable canvas snapping with keyboard modifier
- Edit cursor paths
- Select succeeding media on ALL tracks
- Replace Element with all effects still in place
- Fix the Crossfade from/into group bug
- Fix the "numbers are display in wrong format so we can't input numbers with the keyboard" bug

In February I spent many many hours writing with the TechSmith support just to make them understand the problems with Camtasia 2018. And I wrote very clear, attached screen videos etc. I spent answering the support e-mails and explaining the same things many times instead of being able to continue my Camtasia projects.

That's why I hope the new version is going to be great so it was worth the money. But this requires that TechSmith listens to the customers, read forum threads. I really hope we get some features we're hoping for years. Instead of just more effects, more assets, more integration the subscription based library. I want to be more productive and be able to optimize my workflow with Camtasia.

I'm really looking forward to Camtasia 2019. Don't disappoint us ;-)

Okay, so here is Camtasia 2019. No editing improvements at all. None of the TOP 5 requested features in the forum. No lost features from Camtasia 8.

Cursor smoothing, automatic audio leveling, PDF import (works well, I tested it), more customizable  shortcuts and some scheme improvements - that's it.... for a new major version???
