When create an text callout in Jing (on Mac), it adds a shadow. I am unable to find a preference where I can remove it.  See https://screencast.com/t/DuKZTLDqngl  as an example.

That's right, there are no options to change shadows in Jing. If you're looking for more control, Snagit has a lot of styles and customizability to choose from.

Hi Paul, thanks for your reply. However, the "drop shadow" feature is a rather recently added functionality. For instance, this is a screencast from last year :
https://content.screencast.com/users/ToutChange/folders/Jing/media/0a5f0589-3323-4543-a0a6-c507c95df...

As you can see, there are no shadows on the text.
The issue with this new feature is that it actually decreases the value of the tool (because now, the unnecessary shadows inside callouts make the text really hard to read). A number of users might leave Jing because the end result is lower quality than it used to.

I see no value to this new feature, since a callout that has a solid background needs zero drop shadows for the text to be perfectly legible. This very forum has text on a solid white background - I don't think you need any additional shadows for the Techsmith website to be 100% legible. Is there any way we can submit a "feature change request" to remove those new shadows ?

Sebastien

I see what you mean now. That wasn't added intentionally.
We are working on a new, modern tool currently, to replace Jing, and will bear this in mind.
