I'be been previously using lightworks and it such a breeze compared to camtasia, even though it's a professional level software.
Please, include this feature in the software ASAP.
So far I'm not overly satisfied with camtasia 9.
As far as having them add this feature ASAP that most likely will not happen as it will mostly likely be voted on and see how many users may or may not find it useful and what is the top priorities for upgrade versions or maintenance upgrades are made.
With that being said I can say I respect what you are looking for in the software and respect that you posted it here for an idea and gave your feedback on what you want to see. If things like this was not done by users like you and many others then TechSmith would not have any feedback of what their users like or dislike and what to see to make it a better software for everyone. So, thank you for posting and have a great day/night.
Cheers ~ Fred.

I posted here knowing full well that probably nothing will come out if it. Regardless, I felt that I need to actually post it, so at least my voice gets heard.
Adam, I agree, although my files are "always" renamed prior to importing. However, files have been moved to different folders which is almost the same as renaming them after the fact.
A workaround is to save the project, close Camtasia, make a copy of the project, verify a copy of the project exists :D, rename the file/folder, open the project, globally edit the project for the changes.
to rename a project file, the project must be closed, then the file renamed in Explorer; on reopening the project, the renamed file can be relocated during the opening sequence, or reconnected using update media
another issue is that files referenced in a project may be located in multiple locations, making the renaming process challenging
my solution is to export the project as zip; close; import the zip [do not open on import], rename in the extracted files folder; reopen; relocate or update media
How To Rename Active Project Files
Re using the library, if I'm not mistaken, I believe that library items are persistent across projects, so you'll end up a bloated library. And if you have an old project and want to delete library items that will never be used again, I believe that also causes problems...
This is beyond stupid. So many simple things in Camtasia just don't work logically.
