Rename files in Media Bin

I really miss the opportunity to rename an already imported .trec file into the Media Bin.

I do know that it is possible to give name after the recording, but sometimes I change my mind and would like to rename the trec file directly in Media Bin, by giving an even more focused name.

Or sometimes I'd change the name of any other imported assets, like image or audio.

This is currently not possible in Windows version of C9. Manual says that it is possible in the Mac version.

Please implement Media Bin file rename in the Windows version.

Hi and thanks for submitting your idea/feature request!

As outlined in our New Community Processes post, feature requests are open to voting up through the 1st of the month, where we will then tally the votes and present the findings to our product teams. To ensure we have the most accurate data, on the 1st of the month we will be locking the threads that were listed in the Feature Request Round-up that was posted on the 15th. Once we have reviewed the submitted feature requests, our product team(s) may respond to the request, and if that is the case then that thread will then be unlocked for further discussion.

In the event that your idea is not selected for a response feel free to resubmit the idea and share it with your colleagues to garner as much exposure as possible!

Thank you again for your idea and we look forward to hearing more from you!

A workaround in the meantime is to go into Windows Explorer, copy the file, rename it and/or relocate it the way you want it and then go to your project, import media, import the new file and delete the old one. Takes a lot of work but if you're OCD like I am, it helps to keep things clean, organized, and well named.

just to expand a little on what Dave suggests ...

after renaming, right click media in bin and use update media; saves having to import renamed media; if you've put the media on timeline, use update media there; you can then use bin's delete unused media
