I do a lot of multiple step processes with snagit, such as:

1) Paste image on clipboard
2) Resize to 728 wide (bring up resize dialog, enter width, click resize button)
3) upload image

Or
1) Paste image on clipboard
2) rotate image ( bring up rotate dialog, enter angle, click rotate button)
3) Upload image.

It would be nice have a way to record these processes and initiate the full process!

I agree, it would be great to further automate SnagIT.

One approach, is to make it scriptable using AppleScript (and JavaScript for Automation (JXA)).

This would allow us to to combine any number of SnagIt features/tools, as well as integrate/use other third party tools/apps.

So, rather than TechSmith spend its scarce resources developing/maintaining a macro language, they can take advantage of scripting tools already available.

All of the Adobe products are scriptable, as well as many other graphics oriented Mac apps.  And there are some very cool, powerful command-line tools that can be accessed easily from AppleScript.

This would allow us, the SnagIT user community, to develop and share great automation scripts. Of course, TechSmith could also contribute to this.

Hi there

I'm not sure you need these actions. I think you can accomplish most or all of it with a capture preset.

To create the preset:

Click to reveal the drop-down menu  next to Presets.

Enable the Copy to clipboard option, click Image, then click the Effects drop-down and choose Scale Image.

Click the gear icon, then click the drop-down.

Choose Scale to specific width and type 728

Now click the Share option. Note that there are many ways to share. You simply wanted "upload" and that's pretty nebulous. There may be an option on this list you could use.

Cheers... Rick :)

Annnnd I just noticed that this is in the SnagIt for Mac category.

Apologies if you are unable to do these things in the Mac versions. I understand Mac and PC versions aren't full parity.

Cheers... Rick :)

Hi Rick,

I'm actually glad you posted this. I hadn't realized that the windows version allows you to scale an image via a capture preset. I'll see if this is something the mac team could potentially get on their backlog.
