Request: Snagit output for Slack

I would like to have a SnagIt output for Slack. Ideally I would be able to connect with multiple teams.

For each image I want to share, I would like to select the team and channel or direct message. It would be nice if I could also type in a message to go with it.

Thank you for sharing your request, including the helpful detail!

You mention images in your post...would you expect to use an output like this for videos or animated GIFs, as well?

I agree with Michael. This connector would be super powerful for me. I use Slack for all review work with my developers. I'd suggest that the Snagit output should send any media open from Snagit, regardless of format, to Slack. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!

Super easy output - Share -> Slack -> Slack #channel.  Done.  Please bump and don't forget about us MAC Snagit users who still don't have the ability to group a couple images together /rant

Noted. Can you explain more about grouping images? Snagit for Mac has had capture tagging since 2016 and you can combine images on the canvas. Must be something else, though?

The amount of time this could save would be amazing. I've looked for how to write my own plugin before just for this one use case. would be much appreciated

We started using Slack now and thought for sure it would have been available. Was shocked it wasn't.  Please add!

Posting here to cast my vote.  This is my most common use case for SnagIt, and it feels clumsy to have to save the output somewhere just so I can drag it into Slack.  SnagIt and Slack could go together like peanut butter and chocolate!

Is there anything we can do as a community to speed this process along? I'm a programmer and would be willing to lend some time to making the custom connector work asap.

Based on this thread, I have been trying to look at Slack and make sense of it. Does it support images generically?

Perhaps if someone could share how it presently works without this SnagIt integration and tell us how the cumbersome bit works that it may give the SnagIt developers an idea of what needs to happen?

slack lets you upload/paste an image to a channel as a message with a comment, many image formats, etc yes.

My workflow is usually that I have a shortcut key where I take a pic to the editor, annotate it, then want to hit Share like I would to Youtube for a video for it to post that to a configured slackchannel - possibly letting me configure the channels in the drop down for the Slack share.

So say I have a Feedback channel I want to post to Id click Share->Slack->Feedback it might prompt me to add a comment and then post the entire image to that channel with the comment

when I have multiple anotations to upload it would save a lot of time between the context switchng, copy/paste, getting the wrong second image cause copied instead of copy all, etc , etc

I think like a few poeple I have the skills to do the post programming etc, but being able to use the snagit api to create a share option is not public, so we post feedback :)

You can actually copy and paste the image from Snag-It to Slack on (at least on Mac). Other than that you can save the file as a local file then drag and drop the image into Slack.

As TriggerAu said, you can do whatever you need to in Snagit, then just paste it into Slack, it uploads it.  You can even add comments.  I thought I needed more, but it works just fine the way it is.  If they come up with something magical, then cool. I see there are some nice addons like Marker.io, maybe they can do something like that as well.

Hi Jeff - I am familiar with Marker.io but would be interested to hear what aspect of it is most appealing for you in your work.
