Request to add to Layers in SnagIt Editor

When drawings are getting more sophisticated, I find myself in need to overlap graphic entities. When entities are overlapped, it's hard to select each one individually. That is when Layers is coming to help, like in many drawing software (even Paint.NET has it). By the way, I'm using SnagIt since 1998.

To me, that sounds like feature creep, where an application get progressively more complicated with very little value added for the average customer.   (Think of Corel's PaintShop Pro). I would get no value out of a layers based Snagit editor, but I see its development adding significantly to the cost of Snagit.

I agree that the graphics objects in the Snagit editor can be a bit difficult to manipulate at times,  but I would prefer they improve their object manipulation algorithms before doing something like that.

I understand feature creep but the layers are already there (you can move items back or forward etc.)
It would not be a big stretch to add a panel to show what is already there and the ability to drag them around.

I too understand feature creep, and if something like a constantly visible layers panel were added, I could see it would likely impair the overall interface. But it would be really nice to have a panel that could be opened if we needed it. ;)

Not every feature is for everyone. For me it could be helpful. For example, look at Paint.Net - a free excelent and intuitive image editor that uses layers.

+1 as tamir.nof is basically asking to ad a VIEW to work with programming that is already in place

I think to consider though, Snagit is Not per say,  a image editor software.
I see it more as a screen capture and image annotation and markup software.

The more "features" you continue to add the further you begin to fade of its primary purpose.

I'm all for improvements and updates by not if they start to complicate and stray from the intended use.

A apple isn't a orange and it shouldn't be.

Normally a good point and full agreement. But in this case layers are already there. The request would only add a layer pallet or window to see the layers
Check it yourself. Right click a callout or shape. You have the option to send it to the back, move it one back or forward. It is already there
