Resize Canvas feature in version 18 appears to be less useful than in previous versions

My IT department just upgraded me to Snag It 18. When I resized the canvas in the previous version, the canvas would resize dynamically while the Resize Canvas dialog box was open. As such, I could see the results as I adjusted the width and height.

With version 18, I have to click the OK button in the Resize Canvas dialog box in order to see the results. If I need to adjust the width and height, I need to go back into the Resize Canvas dialog box. That's more mouse clicks than in the previous version. That does not make for an improved user experience.

The canvas seems to resizes dynamically  for me before clicking apply.

I would try some of the normal processes.

Restart Snagit or do a computer reboot
Do a repair or reinstall of Snagit

You're showing how to resize an image Dubie.

Resize canvas is done from a separate Window.

Granted, the canvas can become an image if you save it as one.
Whether you're drawing annotations on it, placing images on it or saving it as is.

However, if you use the resize canvas feature. It won't update dynamically like george.c.hale has pointed out. I have SnagIt 12 installed and it will.

I don't know it this will help you or not George,

You can grab the bounding handles of canvas and expand it outward one side at a time.
It won't give you even borders, but if you just need to expand a side. The top or bottom, it's a quick trick.

Another option to consider with regards to the canvas is to manipulate the option in SnagIt that causes the canvas to automatically adjust itself to accommodate the items placed upon it.

To toggle that option off or on, click Edit > Editor Preferences... > Editor tab

Cheers... Rick :)
