Hi,

I checked few topics here.
I'm not really sure, if just not working or...

When I'm using capture with "All-in-one" option and I select an area, I can resize the area.

I'd like to have option to turn on same functionality for "Image" only (I'm using 13.1.2).

BR,
Martin

That functionality doesn't exist,
I'm curious though. What would be the point? Why not just use all in one?
You would still need to click a Camera Icon or hit  Enter or some keyboard shortcut before saving the capture window.

Regards,Joe

It's just a matter of consistency - if "All-in-one" is the only one, which should be used, it should be the only one existing... ;-)

One thing that might help is that when you click and drag to select the area, if you are still holding your mouse button down and you want to abandon the selection thus far and re-select, you may press the Esc key to start over.

Cheers... Rick :)

I'm not very good with selections, so I typically adjust precisely after initial selection. I started using "All-in-one", so far no issues with that...

I know this is an old topic but I'm now experiencing the same issue, e.g. I can no longer adjust the capture area before the image is captured. I have Snagit 2019.3 Build 3847 installed on my Win10 x64 PC. A few weeks ago after pressing the Prt Sc key I could draw a rectangle around the area I wanted to capture, release the mouse button, tweak the dotted lines around the area, click the capture button and the exact area was captured. Now when I draw the rectangle around the area and release the mouse button, immediately the area is captured. I no longer have the option to readjust the area to be captured.

I've looked through the options and cannot determine what the heck I changed to eliminate this intermediate step. I just reinstalled, selecting the REPAIR option. This did not restore the intermediate step.

I also tried the "Reset the capture settings to the defaults", this did not restore the intermediate step

BTW Until recently, I've seen this intermediate step for well over a year or two, possibly longer.

Hi there

How do you begin your captures? Are you using the big red button on the main capture window? A hotkey mapped to a preset? A hotkey mapped to the big red button on the main capture window?

I use the PrtSc key to start the capture (this is what I've always used). I don't remember setting the PrtSc key as the hotkey but it is what I would prefer. After pressing the PrtSc key I draw the rectangle around the area I want to capture. Now, as soon as I release the mouse button (after drawing the rectangle) the capture is made and I see the capture in the editor. In the past, I could tweek the rectangle and then click the camera icon in the Capture Toolbar. Optionally I could click the movie camera icon if I wanted to record a section of the screen as a video.
I just looked at File > Capture Preferences > Hotkeys and I don't see a setting for PrtSc
On the Snagit webpage at https://www.techsmith.com/tutorial-snagit-how-to-capture-your-screen.html about 1/2 way down it is the section "Selection preview and capture toolbar" this is what I'm missing, e.g. I don't see the preview.

OK I found the solution - In the Snagit window the "All-in-one" had a gray background. I clicked on it, the background was no longer gray. Now when I draw the rectangle around the area I want to capture, when I release the mouse button I now see the preview and can adjust it.
