Rolling back to Snagit 13 to get my work done

After several months of frustration with Snagit 2019, I'm rolling back to Snagit 13.  Have been unable to set up "hot keys" which worked perfectly fine in Snagit 13 - "f" will not capture fullscreen even though pressing "f1" lists "f" as fullscreen capture.  Scrolling window capture works sporadically - tried panoramic capture instead but can't get the "Stop" pop-up to appear automatically as it does in Snagit 13.  I'm just glad I didn't automatically uninstall Snagit 13.

FWIW my "F" works  fine as does my scrolling.

Albeit I'm not sure why you would want to use F since I  just hit my capture key (prt sc) and leftclick (anywhere )and it captures fullscreen.

snagit 2019.

Using "prt sc" is a "two-hander" on my keyboard "fn"-"prt sc" - lots faster to hit a single key with a single hand when a lot of captures are being done.  Scrolling sometimes captures only part of the page; sometimes "squishes" what it does capture.

Make some PRESETS and assign hot keys there. I have CONTRL PRINTSCREEN  set to just copy at 500 px tall for pasting into emails. It can be any configuration you want set to almost any hot key

Dpn't throw the baby out with the bath water. 2019 is a good release with lots of good stuff. Take a bit of time with it and watch the videos if you need that.

Then search my posts. I do not easily cut Techsmith any slack  when things are done badly.

I concur with Ronald on this 2019 release. I use to have the preset key "Print Screen" and it would bring up the Capture mode. Then I could easily adjust if needed. The 2019 isn't as user friendly and intuitive as the 2012 version. The Callout's are molded right out of Barney, the cartoon version. This isn't an Engineering Tool but a compromise of the 2012 professional version.

How do you print screen with just one key? (other than prt sc)

Well, I could attach a picture of my HP Notebook's keyboard but suffice it to say "fn" is bottom row left; and "prt sc" is function row, extreme right above the numerical keypad.  Windows 7.

Wherever you are when you click F1 for help just leftclick mouse and it should take fullscreen capture.

Exported presets from Snagit 13 and imported into Snagit 2019.  None of the hot keys work.  Like I said, it's easier to just turn off Snagit 2019 and, instead, keep Snagit 13 running in the background.  At least its behaviour is consistent and predictable.

" F" will not work by itself as the keyboard has no way of knowing if it is the letter f or a hotKey.

That’s why hotkeys need a qualifier such as ctrl to alt or shift etc.

Unless you have a third party keyboard controller.

"F1" pop-up from Snagit 2019.  "F" does not capture fullscreen.  "F" works as expected in Snagit 13.  No "third party keyboard controller" involved.

That’s after you click for a capture and should be when you see the crosshairs.

If you leftclick on the mouse INSTEAD of F1 It should capture the full screen.

Mine does.

Mine doesn't.  After I click capture in Snagit 2019 and have selected "Fullscreen Capture," leftclick sometimes gives me a full screen; sometimes gives me a partial screen; sometimes does nothing.  "F1" gives me the pop-up instructing me to use "F" to capture fullscreen (just like Snagit 13) but "F" does nothing (unlike Snagit 13).  I've got lots of stuff to capture and I need consistent operation -> Snagit 13.

Open the capture window and select image and save it as a preset and it will act like mine does.
