Rounded Corners

I love SnagIt and use it constantly - almost daily, in fact.  I really need the ability to apply rounded corners to my images.  And I need the ability to adjust the radius of the corners, leaving transparency in the area outside the image.  We have been waiting far too long for this feature.  I have to go to a free website that lets me import my images and modify them just to add the rounded corners that SnagIt cannot.  For all of the wonderful features that SnagIt provides, this is a major gap that forces me to consider alternatives to this great product.

Hi Pete,

Thanks for the detailed feedback and idea on how you'd like to see Snagit enhanced. I'm curious, do you typically want portions of your capture to be rounded, or is it generally the entire capture?

Thanks!

Hi Jason,

I want to capture the image au naturel and then modify it ex post facto as I see fit.  I can see a use-case to capture-with-rounded-corners, but I would not want to be forced into any sort of mandatory modification of the original image.  Others may very well want to always round-off the corners of captures, but I'd rather have the original unsullied image an then modify as needed latently.

Thanks for listening :-)

If I can add my 2 cents - I'd like the feature to give you the ability to determine the radius of the corner, and where you could select a number for all corners, or you can choose to set a different radius for each corner (upper left, right, lower left, right).  Something like the image attached.

I would vote for this as well. I could see it working both ways nicely. Actually, I could see it working nearly identical to the way the torn edge works with the ability to turn corners off or on and set the radius independently.

As an aside, I really wish the page peel worked that way. And before anyone says "It DOES!", I'm not referring to the ability to act on a SELECTED area as you can with torn edge. You know, select just a part of the image and apply Torn Edge and it looks like you are tearing away the selected part of the image. Page peel forces you to apply to the entire image. :(

Oh, and Page Peel doesn't work so hot on an image that is circular in nature.

I would have expected to see the rounded part peeled up. But that's just me. ;)

Cheers... Rick :)

Another vote here for easily applying rounded corners as an edge effect, mainly for screen shots of ipad and iphone emulators.

If you really want rounded corners it can be done with a mask.  Kelly wrote about it 3 years ago here: https://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmith/topics/snagit_please_give_us_rounded_corners_as_a_edge_effe...

To do this:

I followed her instructions but my png file won't save in my snagit folder.  I created My Shapes folder because nothing was there.  Any ideas?  Thanks.  Teri

The video is using an older version of SnagIt. It took me a while to figure it out but this will get it into the Stamps Library.

Regards, Joe

Thanks Joe

This is actually something I think I suggested a while back. I'd LOVE it if we just had a right-click option that was labeled "Add to Stamps LIbrary".

Cheers... Rick :)

Thanks Joe but I don't have that option listed in my dropdown under Stamps.  I'm using Snagit 11 with Windows 7 and I couldn't find it anywhere.  Also, I had created the My Stamps folder for the png file when I didn't find that folder like in the video.
