This was the number one request in our beta versions for Combine Images. People wanted more than just the horizontal and vertical layouts. There were requests for things like grids, stylized backgrounds, and wrapping panels. Please let us know what else you’d like!

This is what we have now:

But we’re looking to hear what other options you’d like in terms of layout. Are there common tasks that you would like to accomplish with Combining Images together that you’d like Snagit to help you with?

I'd like more control over the defaults used in the Settings panel.  The standard ones are rubbish and I always have to change them

One thing I think would be most helpful would be if the preview were to actually reflect what you will get. For example, the sample image depicted at the start of this thread shows landscape. And that's great. But if you change it to Portrait, there is no change at all in the preview. I would expect the preview to change and perhaps look like this if portrait is selected:

You can kind of get there by manipulating the Preview size, but it takes fiddling.

Wrapping would be great! I would be great to be able to combine images but set each image to a specific size. I found that when pasting the completed combined image into the final document, the individual graphics were too small.

Hi avi - I'm curious about your use case. Can you share any details about the final document you were creating (who it was for, why you chose that document format, what other elements it included)?

I love Avi's idea -- and the similar idea that I noticed immediately that would be helpful -- is if the combine allows the user to overlay the images instead of changing the size of the image.  My use case: overlaying a logo on an image.  Of course, I would assume the logo to have a transparent canvas and be smaller than the image canvas on which it is overplayed.
Thanks.

Sounds like you may not be aware of the Watermark effect?

Rick,
I actually never thought of using watermark.  So I went to use your suggestion and found out it's only a Windows Feature, not a Mac feature.
Looking at the help page, it would great for Mac too -- but doesn't look like it would give the full color logo overlay that would help branding in the way I was suggesting.  This image shows it's missing from the effects menu on SnagIt for Mac.

Something occurred to me just today that would seem to be hugely beneficial for the Combine Images tool.

An ability to configure all combined images to either the same height (if the combination is horizontal) or the same width (if the combination is vertical). Or even possibly just all images to the same dimensions and allow distortion. Although, I can't see that one being preferred much.

I had hopes that by selecting the different images within the larger combined image, one might be able to right-click the selected images and see an option there. But sadly there wasn't one.

Seems the only option at the moment is to either ensure each image is the preferred width or height before you choose to combine, or to create the combined image, then futz with it until you eventually get the result you were hoping for.
