Save and Edit Camtasia 2018

Just bought Camtasia 2018 (using Camtasia 8 until now)

i often record tutorials in small chunks - joining all together in
editing.

Camtasia 8-let's me save/name each "chunk" and places it
next in line on the timeline - really easy to work with

Camtasia 2018- assigns date/number and sticks the chunk in
the clip bin - i have no idea which one is next = and yes, i've
switched to list and not much better..

Is there a way i can set a default for how this operates?

You might want to fire up the Camtasia Recorder, then click Tools > Options... > Program tab and change a setting or two in the indicated area.

Give that a go and see if you fare a bit better.

Cheers... Rick :)

to add to what Rick has suggested ...

another option is to reconfigure Recorder's auto naming schema, then set Recorder to ask for a file name each time

this tutorial might be helpful

Hi Karen,

Just as Rick & Kayakman suggested, I would suggest you take a look at the Options in the Tools Menu of the recorder & choose which settings suit your workflow.

Personally, I have the Preview window switched on and Ask for file name so it's the same workflow I had in Camtasia 8.

Happy editing in 2018.

Rick, Kayakman and Jayne....

I'm sending you all a ginormous hug of thanks
for taking the time to offer your solutions

i hunted all over Camtasia and couldn't find
anything you were referring to... until i noticed
the word RECORDER ;)

my 2018 version does not have the option to
"add to timeline"

I have:
auto
save
produce
add to media bin

Just checked... running the most current version

i was able to change a setting to Ask for File Name

it's a good start...

Big hugs and thanks

Karen

the auto setting in 2018 Recorder will put the 1st capture, new project, in bin AND on timeline; subsequent captures will just go into bin

try setting Recorder to minimize to task bar; that might work

I have mine set to minimize to system tray; that way, Recorder does not capture itself minimizing

Hi Karen,

It's always lovely to read appreciation comments, thank you so much for posting. Glad you found our solutions useful.

With regards to the Recorder disappearing, take a look in the Recorder>Tools>Options>Program again. You should see some settings for what will happen with the Recorder when you start recording. I have mine set to 'If recorder will be recorded, minimize to Taskbar.

With regards to the options you mentioned earlier, I have the same list as you.

Best regards,

Jayne
