Save As Default of multiple aspects -eg. size, dimensions, file type, etc.

Currently your Share - Save as Preferences really only cover File type and color depth. What I would love to have is a preset for Sharing as a .jpg with a 640 width since this kind of a standard for low resolution images for display. I'm sure other aspects such as height, proportional, resolution, etc. could be incorporated but save as a file type as a default is like 10 years old. Can't we improve this functionality? I use to do this using macros but you removed the alt key combos during 12 and up.

You can already do that. Make a preset  and under effects choose "scale image". Assign a hot key for instant access
I have one that makes the screen shot 500 px tall and bypassess the editor. It is for pasting into emails of stuff I don't need tosave

That probably works great for an image, as you say, bypassing the editor. I bring in images greater than 640 and must crop them. After cropping, I need 640 jpg save. That is the issue.

To clarify, I take photos with my iphone using Fuse and share them to Snagit. Once they are in the editor, I crop as necessary and then resize to 640 and save as a jpg file. I use to do this using macros and a hotkey. TechSmith removed the alt key combo commands from the menu system which killed the macro capability for me.

I bypass the editor. You do not need to do that as I was just giving an example
Try what I posted and just set the scale image setting to 640 wide
It works

Yes it works for images that are not already in the editor. Once in the editor, presets don't work or at least the hot key that activates it doesn't.

OK, that response is not correct. The hot key works but only can capture images from outside of Snagit Editor. It works perfectly for outside images.

I am officially lost. What exactly are you trying to do? You don't want a preset? Presets control how a capture is taken and where it goes ...

Again I'll attempt to clarify - yes, presets in their current configuration are for capturing images.

I don't care about the terminology used -  preset, postset, sunset, whatever. I just want some button or hotkey that allows me "for Sharing as a .jpg with a 640 width."

Chocolate teapot?  No 2 definition is correct.

Here's a teaser for you.  In America, the US Postal Service delivers the mail, while in Britain, the Royal Mail delivers the post. (Courtesy of Bill Bryson)

As you guys say., "Go figure"

Horses for courses I suppose. ;)

On the send three and four pence, I was advised the story went like this.

One of the world wars a communication was sent.
As it was received, it was interpreted as what I said earlier. Send three and four pence, we are going to a dance.
What was MEANT was "Send reinforcements, we are going to advance!"

Cheers... Rick :)

I think we are officially off topic.  The OP must wonder what the hell he has got in to.

When members continually spar over the same issue.

Because they are right, and the others are inexplicably wrong.

The banter keeps flying back and forth without resolve. It isn't productive or beneficial for the most part.

That other topic that got shut down.
The blame falls on more than 1 set of shoulders.

Regards,Joe

@joe not aimed in your direction at all. And when one points a finger, there are always three pointing back. Most of us just talk and if we do banter about something it tends to stay respectful (Layers was a good example)

I think bun-fight is thr right term here.  Everybody spars but no one gets hurt
