It would be awesome if this is implemented. I know that in C9 there are other options which are not available in earlier versions.

may I ask why? Are you sharing projects with people on v8?

Yes. Same old cleaning breaths and pauses. Nothing advanced. Why not backwards compatibility for these simple edits?

Currently, Camtasia 9 is only compatible with other Camtasia 3 for Mac, and not for any previous versions. While C8 projects can be opened and converted to C9, C8 files cannot be opened in C9. I don't foresee them every changing that, as they are encouraging people to upgrade to C9.

For simple edits that can be made in both versions, why not compatibility in project files?

With Camtasia 9 (and Camtasia 3 for Mac), we completely overhauled our project format so that we could make it cross-platform compatible. Trying to maintain both versions is possible, but expensive in this case, so we'd rather focus our efforts on bringing you more useful capabilities.

If you have some project sharing to do with people on old versions who aren't yet able to upgrade, you can still use the old versions if you like on those projects.

Hi and thanks for submitting your idea/feature request!

As outlined in our New Community Processes post, feature requests are open to voting up through the 1st of the month, where we will then tally the votes and present the findings to our product teams. To ensure we have the most accurate data, on the 1st of the month we will be locking the threads that were listed in the Feature Request Round-up that was posted on the 15th. Once we have reviewed the submitted feature requests, our product team(s) may respond to the request, and if that is the case then that thread will then be unlocked for further discussion.

In the event that your idea is not selected for a response feel free to resubmit the idea and share it with your colleagues to garner as much exposure as possible!

Thank you again for your idea and we look forward to hearing more from you!

-Robert
