Saving Original Capture and Editing a Copy

Hello, Snagit - I have a suggestion for the operation of the Captures Tray. When I make a screen capture, I want to keep my original capture intact and I want any edits I make to be made to a copy of the capture. Currently when I make edits they change the original capture. I would like to have a simple way to duplicate a capture and then edit that copy, so I don't have to worry about accidentally ruining a capture that I worked hard to get.

You can do that by saving a copy first and then making your edits.  Save the edited copy using another filename.

Yes, Manny suggestion is definitely going to accomplish what you are looking to do. I assume you are looking for a more automated way of doing this?

Hello -

Yes, I'd like a quicker way to do this, without having to save the image to my hard drive.  It would be nice, for example, if I could go to my image tray and do a "Copy" / "Paste" or do a "Duplicate".  Then I would have two copies of the image in my tray, and I could work on the new one while the original is untouched.

As it happens, I rarely save my images to my hard drive.  Most of the time I just use them from the tray, then I copy and paste them into another application like PowerPoint or into an email.

Here's another way for you to duplicate your captures.  It's pretty simple to do and does save your images to the datastore automatically.  See if the video tickles your ivories:
