Scale down and Zoom In Simultaneously

How might one both zoom in on a clip and scale it down simultaneously?

I was using the scale down animation to create a picture-in-picture effect where the video condensed down and was a rectangle on top of a slide.  However, the smaller video view area meant I needed to zoom in on what was being shown.  Then I learned that the clip and the clip area must be the same thing inside of Camtasia, because I couldn't do it.

I ended up having to duplicate all of the content at the end of the timeline, and perform the zooms, then--because there's no clip to movie export--I had to export the whole video, load the resulting video as a media file, trim to just the zoom at the end, and use that in place of the original clip so that I could "scale it down".

Absolutely frustrating.  Am I doing it wrong?

I thank you for your replies, and both show interesting work-arounds, however, neither of these videos will work.

"Flair" and "that's just how Camtasia does it" are not acceptable phrases that I can pass along to clients.  If the PIP window literally moves around and changes in size, then this is just another work-around.  It's an interesting workaround, but again the better solution is to create the zoom in/out, export it, and import that result in... still, even that is just a hack.

I think my hack would be acceptable if you could export a clip to a video and solve without having to encode the entire project multiple times just to get clips, but in no world is a moving and resizing PIP window acceptable for corporate work.

I assume the type of zoom and scale effect shown in the video below is what you are after? If not, please provide more color.

Is this something that's already possible in Camtasia 2019 or that is coming in future versions?

Not currently possible. Should be available in the next major release.
