Hi Skytraining,

This probably isn't the answer you're looking for, but Fuse can only capture output from the camera. This is because iOS doesn't provide the proper mechanisms for us to capture the screen.

There's a large thread on porting Camtasia (our primary screen recording software for Mac and PC) to iOS. The thread contains some ideas from us and other visitors as to how this could be done via hardware solutions. You can find the thread here:

Thanks for taking the time to ask your question,
Glenn

Hi Glenn

"This is because iOS doesn't provide the proper mechanisms for us to capture the screen"

How than you can capture the screen in ScreenChomp?

ScreenChomp doesn't record the screen, but it gives the appearance of screen recording. It actually records data about what you're doing and then that data is rendered later as a video.

The iOS limitations prevent us from recording anything on the screen other than our own, active application.

I hope that clears things up.

Reflector is an inexpensive app we use on the Mac (avail for PC as well) that makes the mac able to connect and mirror the ios device screen in real time. It then provides services that record the mirrored screen activity as a video. Works beautifully, we import the vid into Camtasia and annotate it as necessary.

So, how about screen capturing with Fuse on Android devices? How does that work if it works at all?

Luka,

Fuse on Android cannot do screen recording (video), but it can handle screen capture (images). If you use Android's built-in mechanism for taking a screen shot, Fuse can pull that image out of your camera roll.

Thanks,
Glenn
