Just a few days ago I started encountering an error when recording a video or taking a screenshot and then clicking on Screencast to upload it to be accessible via a URL. Each time I receive an error pop-up message that says, "An error occurred while attempting to connect to Screencast.com, please check your internet connection." Any idea what happened and how to resolve this issue? Nothing has changed with my paid license.
There were some changes made that affected ScreenCast. I believe the thread below discusses them. Something about a security vulnerability.
I just heard back from SnagIt's tech support and looks like you have to upgrade (assuming you have the version I do, which is: 13.1.7 (Build 8036). RIDICULOUS!
Thank you for that information, we have identified an issue with how certain versions of Snagit communicate with Screencast.com. Unfortunately, it is not something we are able to fix within versions released prior to Snagit 2018. As a result, the Screencast.com sharing output in your version of Snagit has stopped working.
If you are on an older version of Snagit and would still like to use the Screencast.com sharing output, you will need to purchase an upgrade to the latest version of the product, Snagit 2020.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Sorry to hear that. I found this article from 1/31/2020...it does say it will impact Snagit 13 and earlier only, but I am on Snagit 2019 and it is not working for me either: https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039010732-Sharing-to-Screencast-Not-Working-With-Snagit-on-Windows
I figured out my v2019 issue with TechSmith Support. I had to download a plugin from this link for screencast.com: https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002022732-Download-Snagit-Share-Destinations
