When I make a screenshot of the menu item with ctrl shift & E, it is not displayed in the correct size in the editor afterwards. It is displayed with the whole canvas and I have to crop it manually each time. Is there a quick solution?

Here a short Gif

Hey Alexander, do you have an example of the type of menu you're trying to capture, maybe with the before and after crop?

Have you checked System Prefs > Keyboard > Shortcuts to make sure that that key combination is not assigned to something else?

Hello @Jason & @SactoBob, many thanks for the quick feedback. My first VideoGif was a bit inaccurate as I combined the Snagit shortcuts with Keyboard Maestro macros.I've now made another VideoGif that shows my workflow.

I get my Menu Item screenshot, but it is displayed in the full size of the screen. I always have to edit it manually with the crop function.

It would be helpful if it is displayed correctly after taking the screenshot in the editor.
The current behavior in the editor would be comparable, if I would make a screenshot of a selected area and this would still be displayed with the size of the full canvas in the editor. Am I missing something?

Here again a video to the better representation of my problem https://cl.ly/d50b6d

About the 4th or 5th step of your video... where you have the menu down to just a small border of empty space around the menu.... is what I get immediately without doing any cropping. This is just a guess on my part. Is the 4th item, re: new canvas, checked on or off. The reason it's a guess is that I have never in many years of using Snagit turned that on.   :)

Alexander, that part of your video where your screen seems to zoom out, do you have an application in fullscreen mode by chance? It looks as though Screenflow is the active application, but there is no window visible besides the orange background.

But yes, you're right, the menu capture should only contain the menu area and not the full desktop.

Here's a gif of what I'm seeing and the standard behavior: https://www.screencast.com/t/D4WbPlLy
