I have tried to make my presentation searchable with no success.
I am using the flash controller in production wizard, and the overlay controls for controller.
TOC, Searchable, and Captions are all Available and selected.
But the preview windows and the actual presentation lack a search box. The TOC appears fine, but no search box I can see...

Any thoughts?

Strangely this only happens with my existing projects (created under version 4.0.2). New projects seems to work fine...

There is a way of making this work with my existing projects too right?
I only have 2 existing powerpoint presentations but I would hate to have to re-record them again...

Hi Gordon,

I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue. This sounds like a bug on our end, though I'm having trouble reproducing it. At this point it would be best to open a ticket with support:

http://techsmith.custhelp.com/app/ans...

This way we can get a hold of one of your project files and track down the root cause. Thanks for your patience and sorry again for the trouble.

After some discussions with support it seems that you cannot select ipod video at the same time as flash overlay if you want the search box to appear in 7.1.1.

Hi Gordon,

iPod M4V path is used when you produce the video, copy the video to your iPod and view it from there. Many meta data such as quiz, caption, TOC as well as the searchability are not available.

Today, we just released Camtasia Studio 8, one of the cool features is that if you produce your video with TechSimth smart player, if you playback the content for nearly any device. You may check it out here: http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia-wha...

Basically, if you want to keep all these meta data and still able to view it on your mobile devices such as iPad/iPhone and Android devices, you may choose "Custom production settings" path to produce (of course you want to have "Searchable" option checked in the options tab if you want the searchability) and upload the video to a web hosting site (eg: screencast.com etc) and you can then view the contents on almost any device throught a browser.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Kevin
