I often get an error that says Server busy when I launch CamTasia Studio 8. Once this happens, it goes to not responding and then crashes. It sometimes happens 10 times in a row and then the 11th time it finally opens.

I'm using CamTasia Studio 8.0.4, dec 9'12, build 1060.

Google gave me a similar problem for SnagIt 8 or 9 and that I had to remove/change a registry key. I've done that as I also have SnagIt 8 installed.

"Server busy"? You are not trying to run it off a network drive are you? If so, that is not supported.

Nope, its installed on my local harddrive. I do start the shortcut from a launcher called toolbox, but it does start from there sometimes.

What I usually do is this:

I start Fraps (from the same launcher), then record a movie of me playing Portal 2. The movie is stored in C:\Temp which is on my SSD. I close portal2 but keep fraps running, then I start camtasia studio 8 and I get this server busy dialog. And after 3rd or 4th try it often starts. Sometimes it doesn't and it can take up to 10 tries before it finally launches.

I doubt my system specs are the cause given that my SSD drive is the slowest component in my computer.

Btw, Camtasia Studio 8 is not installed on my SSD.

Hey Leon,

Are you seeing this message every time you start up? Are you on the trial? Have you entered in a license key?

It does not happen every time I start up, but it seems to happen after I've played a game.

I have bought the program years ago since version 5 and upgraded with new versions. So I have entered my license key, obviously.

I wanted to record a movie of this using Fraps and WDM capturing, but I got a black screen recording. With the problem though...

When I tried a second time and started Camtasia recorder from the start menu and attempted the capture, it went all smooth and no problems.

It seems it doesn't matter if I open the Camtasia Recorder, which means I was able to record a movie of this happening, while directly after being able to start the program normally.

I was playing Portal 2, and it took 4 attempts to open the program. I was quite lucky how it didn't open the first time in the recording, while directly after it did open.

See here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcSOOg...

Set settings to original to get highest resolution (above 1080p). My desktop is 2560x1440 but Camtasia only goes up to 2140x11something.

Due to the lack of response, I've given up on getting the help here. Any chance this gets fixed in a next update?

Did you file a support ticket? Most of us do not record with games, so we users can not be of assistance. Tech support has the ability to read the diagnostics from your computer that they will ask you to provide,
