Set Default Zoom in SnagIt Editor

I see there was another request for this opened 4 years ago and closed without any feedback/comments from TechSmith.

When working with the Library in SnagIt Editor, every time I go back to the Library, I have to reset the Zoom size. This is a terribly inefficient way to work.

Of course, this wouldn't be too bad if it was possible to have the Library open in one window, then open images in the editor in a separate window (right-click and Open in New Window), but it doesn't seem possible to have multiple instances of the SnagIt Editor open simultaneously.

What kind of 'Zoom' level are we talking about here? I find that the default level of 100% is adequate to preview images before opening in 'Editor'. In the attached images of my library pane capture, the first is set to 200% and the second is set to 100%. There are 46 images in this folder and they are single image wide at 200% as opposed to 8 images wide at 100%. Do you want to see them at larger size before opening in the editor?

@davidlambert - thanks for asking! In my case, if I launch SnagIt Editor, then open Library and select a date where I took multiple screenshots (in the case of my example - October 14 - 52 screenshots), the default zoom size is set to 70%. I have to select a single image, then change the zoom level from 70% to 150% so I can distinguish one screenshot from another. There are a lot of screenshots I use that have very minor changes from one step to the next, so either I have to change the zoom level, or worse, I have to open each image to know if I selected the one I want to work with.

I've included some screenshots below.

I would like to be able to set the default zoom level to 150% (of course it should be configurable as others have different requirements). I primarily use a 4K display, hence the need to zoom to 150%.

In addition to setting a default value for the zoom, it would be really nice to have the Library open in a separate window when I'm working on an image. That way, I could work on editing a single image, then be able to quickly select the next image, or use another image in the library for reference purposes.

Currently, if I open an image from the Library, the Library closes and I have to perform several clicks to get to the next image I want to work with which is terribly inefficient. Having the Library and Editor in separate windows so I can keep them side-by-side would be a HUGE productivity boost!

Initial View (70% zoom)

Ideal View (150% zoom) - after manually selecting 150%

I do find it odd that with the zoom level increased from, in my case, 100% to 200% the actual preview size is almost 8 times as big. You would think that doubling the zoom would double the preview image size. Your images depict pretty much the same.

Hopefully someone from TechSmith will chime in here....
