I'd like to be able to set the X-Y position of a video placed on the Video1 line so I can make room for a corporate branding header without covering any video content.

For instance, if I set the project size to 1024x828, and I have a video capture at a size of 1024x768, I want to be able to place the video at an X-Y location of 0,60 -- leaving the top 60 pixels as black, so I can place an image callout at the top.

Right now, the only way I can do that is place the video on the PIP line.

Unfortunately, that's about all you can do right now with manipulating the position of the main video.

Rest assured that it is a known issue that we don't intend to ignore. As far as the solution or upcoming features, I hope you will understand that I can't really reveal any details. :-(

Hey Bruce, good news! Camtasia Studio 8 is available now, and we made it easy to set the X-Y position of any clip on the timeline, on any track. Here's a quick example: http://www.screencast.com/t/HjGt4WVQraf

If you'd like to try it out, you can download the 30-day trial here: http://www.techsmith.com/download/cam...

Hope that helps!
