The "unsaved" captures are located in the Snagit datastore whose location can not be changed. However, you can save any capture any where you like by using Save As.

actually you can change the location by using NTFS junction points. (see sys internals website for the junction tool )

( just like you can change the location of everything on you c:\ drive using NTFS junction points. your home directory, the system32 directory, everything.)

That kinda sucks as my C drive is a small SSD, I'd like it to be on my data drive.

The Sangit editor has been losing track of this datastore folder and latching on to MyPictures folder or the the SNAGIT10 folder instead. Just seems to get randomly detached from the original datastore path and I don't know how and can't find any options to fix it! last ime i just re-installed the product - what a pain!

It would be good if you start your own thread so we can straighten out what losing track of the datastore means.

it's all related. the errors run together as a set.

No search pane, no capture tray, library pointing now to MYPictures folder. No way to reset any of them via any menu or tool bar option. Only a re-install fixed it temporarily. Will put on separte thread later. But it is related in that you don't have a menu option to point the Library to any other file, otherwise I could reset that piece of this problem.

I know this thread is way too old. But in case people are still looking for answers, simply delete or rename the datastore folder found in "C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\Techsmith\Snagit 12\". Make sure you are able to view hidden system files from View Folders option, else you won't see the AppData folder. After that, you can just run Snagit right away and it will prompt to ask you where to save your captures or use default settings.

Pretty much straight forward.

You don't need any 3rd party tools in doing this by the way.
