SFTP support would be awesome. The FTP support Snagit has is great, but my web host disabled all FTP access quite a while ago because people's servers kept getting hacked into. I configured WinSCP to handle the actual upload, but digging through commandline docs was painful.

Billy,
Thanks for the feedback. It's a good point.

We have been phasing SnagIt out of our operations because it doesn't support SFTP. TechSmith may want to consider the trivial cost of adding support for this open protocol against lost business in its calculations.

Is this implemented yet?  This is the only reason we are not upgrading.

I need this as well. I need SFTP to get to our internal server.  Jing had this...

I also like one of the features you removed from Jing, that is the ability to create a URL from the uploaded file.  This made it really easy to paste in a link after uploading the image.

When can we get SFTP support?

This is very disappointing. I was all ready to buy the Snagit licence, but it seems pointless without SFTP. It seems like a simple, yet important feature to add to Snagit.

Hi and thanks for submitting your idea/feature request!

As outlined in our New Community Processes post, feature requests are open to voting up through the first, where we will then tally the votes and present the findings to our product teams. To ensure we have the most accurate data, on the 1st of the month we will be locking the threads that were listed in the Feature Request Round-up that was posted on the 15th. Once we have reviewed the submitted feature requests, our product team(s) may respond to the request, and if that is the case then that thread will then be unlocked for further discussion.

In the event that your idea is not selected for a response feel free to resubmit the idea and share it with your colleagues to garner as much exposure as possible!

Thank you again for your idea and we look forward to hearing more from you!

This is one of the most requested features for Snagit. It is a rather old request, so I do want to make sure people needs haven’t changed and make sure I understand it fully before we move on implementing it.
There are two main types of secure FTP:
  1. SSH File Transfer Protocol - Wikipedia
  2. FTPS - Wikipedia
Would it work if we implemented only sFTP and not FTPS?

My current understanding is that most FTP servers will support both methods. And people just want a secure way of transferring files so they’d only need one of these methods. Is that correct?
