Share direct to Google+

Hi!
I've just started trying your extension/chrome app and when it comes to sharing the image via G+ it doesn't embed the image, you just get a white empty line/box where the preview is supposed to be.
I think it would be really cool to share a capture so it can be previewed directly in a G+ post!

Hope this can be added! :)

Hi Simon!

Thanks for posting this! Because this relies on pulling from Google's forward-facing Drive, I'm not sure if we can fix it so that posting the shortened goo.gl link will ever work...though I'm definitely willing to put it on our research list!

As I posted to you in G+, I could have sworn that I made this work at one point. Another member of our team was playing around after you posted, and figured out that if you don't use the shortened URL, but rather the full URL of the image, that will actually embed the image in your G+ post. It's not as smooth, but I think it's at least better than the workflow you had to use. So to recap the process:

1. Capture something with Snagit and edit it.
2. Grab the shortened "goo.gl" link from the share button.
3. Paste that into a new tab and hit enter.
4. When the image comes up, it should get rid of the "goo.gl" link and replace it with the full "docs.google.com" link. Grab that link and copy it.
5. Paste that link into your G+ post and it should embed the image.

So go with that for now; that might the best we can ever do, but like I said, I'll definitely put this on our research list. Thanks for the feedback!

thanks i'll do that!

Perhaps there's a way from the Snagit Chrome App when viewing your library to share using a shortened URL or original URL?

Yeah, that's definitely an idea. And/or maybe a toggle in the editor to show shortened/full URL. I dunno, we can figure something out. I'll leave it up to the designers to come up with something brilliant. ;)

I love this idea.  Sharing straight to G+ seems like such an obvious enhancement that I'm a little embarrassed we didn't have it on the list yet :-).

It's not just sharing to G+. Trying to embed the image anywhere (email, VLE, webpage) will not work smoothly. Who actually wants to visit the Google Drive page to see an image?

Is there not something that you can do using the googledrive.com/host/[FOLDERID]/imagename.png method? I know it would break the link if you renamed it afterwards but people would normally expect that.

Good question Graham. We'll put it on our list of things to look at. It obviously becomes more important as you step outside of the circle of Google services.
