So I currently have Jing 2.6.xxxxx pushed out to all of my clients. Someone recently informed me that they can't, or won't be allowed to soon, upload unless the software is updated. We don't give standard users install access, so I script everything and run all scripts as an admin via Altiris.

My command line is simple... jing.exe /qn. However, with the latest version is cries that I need .NET 4 installed. This sorta' breaks the /qn...any work around for this?

Thanks

Hey Rick,

Are you asking if there is any way to upgrade Jing without updating to .NET 4? If so, unfortunately, there isn't any way to avoid this. There is more information as to why this is here: http://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmi...

If that doesn't answer your question, let me know!

Hi Logan...nope, not looking for a way without .net 4, just looking for a way to include .net 4 silently with the rest of the Jing installation. Thanks.

Hey Rick,

You'll need to do the installs separate, but you should be able to do them both silently.
Here's how to do the .NET4 install silently: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/85...

Once that's done, you should be able to do the new Jing install.

Hope this works for you, Rick.

Alright...so I checked and I already have .NET 4 on all of my computers, yet the Jing installation still requests that I install it. I even checked MS for updates thinking maybe the Jing install noticed it wasn't updated...no updates available. Any thoughts on this? Not going to be able to put too much more time into this before my boss tells me to ixnay the software.

Thanks
Rick

Nevermind...I ended up downloading .NET 4.5, installed it via Altiris with \\SERVER\dotnet45.exe /q /norestart ... manually rebooted (can't reboot on my users out of the blue), then ran the jing installer \\SERVER\jing.exe /q(n) and have some mildly custom lines that move the shortcut where I want it. Seems to work now. Thanks for the assistance.

I am trying to install Jing silently without having it start after the installation and without it starting when Windows starts. I have downloaded the .exe install file and used the following on the command line. Jing.exe TSC_START_NOW=0 TSC_START_AUTO=0 /qn but it doesn't install.

Are you installing .NET 4/4.5 first?
