Hi, I need documentation to get Smart focus working on Camtasia for Mac 3. There doesn't seem to be any that I can find, and every time I use it I get error messages. Mostly canvas size too big, but when I make canvas smaller than recording, I get just blank video where the preview should be and no icons above the preview area. Undo does not them work and I have to reload the project to continue. Can someone explain how I can use this very useful feature? Or is there bug in it.?

There is definitely a bug in it on the Mac version. I currently does not work very well at all. I'm afraid you will have to do your zooming/panning by adding a "custom animation" at each place you'd like to zoom in, then adjusting the position/scale to look the way you want. You can zoom back out easily with a "scale to fit" animation.

Hello Paul. Just like that, it's a bug, not even "sorry about that"? Please fix it asap for hard working paying customers. Thanks!

My apologies; I did not mean to sound terse- I've only recently discovered via another thread that it is so very broken, and we're trying to determine how useful the feature is for how much it is used. Obviously we should not leave something so broken in the product, but it is possible you (our paying customers I mean) would rather us work on something more useful with our time, if few people would take advantage of this feature. It has apparently been quite broken for a while, with surprisingly little complaint, which is why I'm second-guessing its utility.
I hope this makes sense. Nobody here likes shipping something buggy and as a customer you, I hope, have come to expect stable and useful software from us. But if you could have a couple devs spending (say) 3 months cranking something out- what would it be? This or something else?

Hi Paul. Thanks for detailed reply. You cannot second-guess any of the utilities customers paid for. This is not a free beta testing here, is it? You  can get rid of some features in your next version but in this one I paid for SmartFocus (which is a time-saver) and it must be there fully functional. Hire more developers and stop making excuses, this is embarrassing. Hope you understand. Waiting for the fix..

Thank you Paul, at least I won't waste any more time on it.

Is it being looked at? As someone who often has to get out a quick tutorial for my customers at a moment's notice, it would be good to have. I am quite used to using a custom animation, and it is quite quick, but anything that saves me time is welcome.

Hi Camtasia product Management / Support
Is there an update on this bug fix, please? As far as I can see Smart Focus does not work on Camtasia version 3 on Mac. Having adjusted recording size bigger than canvas size - recording Chrome fullscreen - I get one Scale Up animation at the start of the recording which seems to correlate with the first mouse movement (not click). That's it. Nothing else. No further Scale-Ups or Scale-Downs.
Not Smart. Not Focus - so this feature needs renaming / removing or better still FIXING! Please.
Thanks, N

I purchased  Camtasia for Mac and was told they were working on a fix for the bug. I purchased it for the Smart Focus as well. It's apparent nobody is working on a fix and nobody at TechSmith cares about this issue. All they care about is the new release. If there isn't going to be any fix for this "bug"  the least TechSmith could do is offer those who bought their abandoned Mac version an EPIC discount on the latest version. It pisses me off to see support hasn't responded to this in over 5 Months. I can't believe they actually said: "We haven't worked on the bug because not that many people complained." I would sure like to see a full credit for what I paid towards the latest release. This is a fail...

I thought it was only me, I just couldnt get my smart focus to work. It was one of the main reason why I brought Camtasia, it could have saved me hours of editing time if it worked.
