Snag It integration as an APP on Windows 10 Microsoft Teams app

Posted this on Twitter and the Snag It team there suggested I bring it to this forum;

@Snagit Hi, are there plans for a Windows10 APP to work with Microsoft Teams (the Skype for business replacement) to simplify the attaching of Snag It images to a message? I have looked in APP store, can't see one yet! Tks, Jon.

Expectation is that 'Teams' will soon replace Skype for Business (which will then be retired). Already a lot of major software products for business administration/projects already have an APP for integrating with Teams. For example; Wrike, Asana, Jira, Planner, Adobe Cloud, Stream, etc... The team I work with are avid users of Snag It and to have this integrating into Teams in the future will be a natural progression (in our opinion) for Snag It. Currently, to add a 'capture' into a 'Team' message is quite cumbersome (Snag, save in folder, go to Teams, click on Add file and then find), being able to Copy C, Copy V would be so intuitive!

Thanks, Jon.

Hi Jon

Sounds like a good idea.  But can I just check something?  Are you able to drag and item directly from the Recents Tray into Teams?  You ought to be able to.  It's a recent development that makes many of the share to options obsolete.

Great.  This was one of those features that I dais "And?" to when it was released but now I use it all the time.  I only save files now for the few sites that don't allow drag and drop.

It also has another advantage.  The image you dag is converted to a png with a temporary file name.  The original remain in unflattened .snag format and can be worked on.  Previously when you save a file to share, it was flattened and, unless you saved it to .snag format as well you were scuppered.

SnagIt could still use a Save As option with SharePoint and Teams integration.  I was able to cut/paste from the recents bar, but not drag & drop right into a Teams Wiki.  Generally, I'm using SnagIt to capture screen shots from apps we're discussing on Teams.  Being able to capture, then save as a PDF, GIF, or PNG right on Teams or SharePoint files folders is better than Save As these on a local disk and then having to manually upload.

Being able to use the SnagIT Interface for marking up images posted to teams would be VERY nice as well.

I think, it is not just about simply taking a screenshot - of course, this is already well implemented in both systems.

But it would be really helpful for ui-development, if it was possible to take a screenshot right out of teams - and to add notes to it (mark positions, add notes, ...). This would save a lot of the time I spend daily with taking screenshots, changing to my desktop, dragging them into any other software, make notes there, save it again and drag it then into teams...

Evernote for example is a lot handier here... as you sell your software as a tool specially for developers, you should think about such time saving tools.

I think the solution to this problem is coming with the vastly improved Windows 10 Snip tool in the Oct 2018 release.  SnagIt will still have some features not built into the new Windows Snip, but Snip with its cloud based clipboard will likely be better integrated with Teams and other Microsoft products.  As much of a fan as I am of SnagIt, if I were TechSmith, I'd address this before Microsoft takes away a lot of the reasons why SnagIt has been successful.  We have a lot of SnagIt licenses, but with the enhancements to Windows Snip tool, none of our users except those who do heavy documentation and steps from screen shots will need SnagIt anymore.
