Snagit 10 not working after Windows 10 Anniversary Edition update

SnagIt 10 disappeared from the start menu after the Windows 10 Anniversary Edition update. I tried to uninstall it and got the following error message:

Error 1321: Windows Installer has insufficient provileges to modiry this file
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Snagit 10\Snagit 10 Editor.lnk

I tried to use the Installation Repair option to correct the problem and got the same error message again.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Windows 10 Anniversary Edition did the same thing to a lot of my programs.

You should be able to find SnagIt 10 still installed in your program files. The example is for SnagIt 13 but they will be in the same location under SnagIt 10. See image below, click to enlarge.

Left click one of the .exe Icons first. Then, right click and select "Send to..Desktop (Create Shortcut )".

Do this for both the Editor and Capture .exe files.

Then you can right click the desktop shortcuts and select Pin them to Start and/or Taskbar"
You may need to right click them and choose "Run as an Administrator" to get the programs fired up.

Here is an alternative in case the program is corrupted.

Download SnagIt 10 from this webpage.

Run the installer and choose "Repair Install"
If that fails uninstall and reinstall using the download.
