SnagIt 12: Capture and Send to Clipboard (without using profiles)

This conversation has been merged. Please reference the main conversation: Can you save a capture to editor AND place on clipboard in Snagit?

I love SnagIt and use it extensively all day long. I know I can use a profile to send my capture directly to the clipboard instead of to the editor. However, there are so many times that I've hit the big red button, defined the capture area, and THEN realized that I didn't need to edit my capture at all.

I would really really REALLY like it if you added a button to this screen [see below/attached] that would allow me to just send my capture to the clipboard instead of to the editor.

This would save me a great deal of time and make my work easier. I bet a lot of other people would like that too. Clicking through menus of profiles is tedious and seems like too many clicks for something as simple as this.

Thanks, Victoria

Hi Victoria

Not sure about adding buttons .. but have you tried adding a hot key to your profile?

I use CTRL SHIFT C for Capture to Clipboard
Also CTRL SHIFT W for capture directly to Word (share)
and various others ...

To assign a Hot Key - select the required Profile and then click on the 'Hotkey' button - you can then use a mix of CTRL - SHIFT- ALT plus any number of Alpha Numeric values plus Function Keys - including some that I haven't seen in years (F24!!)

Not quite a button - but an assignable key sequence that should be consistently available within windows - I am using Win 7 and Win 10 (was 8) and so far haven't found too many problems if I avoid the ALT key as that does tend to be used more often that the others ..

If you find that there is a conflict with the favoured (say) CTRL SHIFT C - you still have other options for using C

My only problem is that I have been known to get carried away with the keyboard assignments and end up reverting to the Manage Profiles options.

Hope this helps

:)  That's a good idea Andy, and I may try that, but what I'm really looking for is to be able to click the big red button and THEN make my choice whether to edit the capture or just send to the clipboard. It should be easy for TechSmith to do that.
