Snagit 13.1.1 doesn't delete unsaved files anymore

In the Snagit 13.1.1 Editor, when you delete unnamed/unsaved files, it no longer sends them to the Recycle Bin. In fact, it sends them nowhere. They disappear from view in the Editor, but their '.SNAG' files remain in the DataStore folder, taking up space.

Hmm, I'm not able to reproduce this yet.

Is this what you're doing?

Yes. In my case, the file remains in the DataStore folder and doesn't get sent to the Recycle Bin. This happens on both PCs I've tried it on: my desktop PC where I've been running Snagit for years (which has never had this problem with any previous versions), as well as my laptop which I've just installed Snagit on for the first time. Both running Windows 10 Pro x64.

I made a similar video and added the link to the support ticket I raised earlier. Request #314465

I figured out how the problem arises. When Snagit initializes for the first time it creates an empty folder called 'Snagit' inside your personal Documents folder.

Since it is empty, and since I don't save any files myself into that location, when tidying up my Documents folders on my PCs, I deleted it.

But when that folder is gone, Snagit loses the ability to delete unsaved files.

A very strange design decision, that Snagit creates and relies on such a folder for the ability to delete, I must say!

Thank you for figuring this out. That's helpful. So you've changed your DataStore location here?

No, nothing to do with the DataStore location.

Strange. I couldn't reproduce this after deleting the the Snagit Documents folder without changing that location. We'll look at it on a fresh machine.

Are you sure you aren't confusing what I'm saying with the DataStore? I'm talking about the folder called 'Snagit' that gets automatically created in C:\Users\Username\Documents

A folder which contains another empty folder called 'Program'.

If you delete the 'Snagit' folder, I believe you will be able to re-create the issue.

Correct. There are two folders in question, the DataStore and the Docs/Snagit folder. You are saying you just have to delete the Docs/Snagit to reproduce the issue. I'm saying that that wasn't the case on the machine I tested on and it will require further testing.
