I believe this would benefit all Snagit users who use the programme a lot for capturing vidseos etc and don't want to sit like a dummy in front of their dumb computers. Imagine you're streaming a 90 minute video. I can 't always remember and often don't want to be there at the end of the 90 minutes to click the finalise button. And if I am not then the process of a) finalizing b) cutting c ) saving file (mp4) could in total take 3 to 4 hours. Jutc compare that with a function that allows users to set a max recording time or alternatively a pause on the originasl being captured and snagit and see the time difference. It is astonishing. Maybe 15 seconds to finalise recording, 15 secs to cut dead time, and most IMPORTANT of all savinbg the named file 1 minute. All these figures increase by 400 to 500 times if you have a 9 hour video as I often running overnight.
So I ask TechSmith please us very happy Snagit users with respect and introduce su7ch a function, either a fixed recording time or a pause function.
I bet my bottom dollar that none of the developers are aware of this. Because as one of the te ch su7pport people wrote to me, Snagit is not intended for more than approx 90 minutes. That is fair enough, but for me it works for a lot more than that. The problem is hugely exponential increasxe in time needed to save a cxapture that has been reduced to 90 minmutes from recording time of anything about 6 hours.
I would also add add it doesn't make sense to invite people to submit ideas and not make it clear they have to sign in first. Very silly IMHO.

A refinement I would suggest is the concept of "pause" as this would provide more flexibility, e.g if both the source "object" and the snagit capture coulöd be paused, and something goes wrong like a pop window intervening, it would then be easier to modify. And all the time savings benefits of finalising, and saving the file would be gained. What do you and others think?
